Family Pictures at the Fort Worth Stockyards
Nothing represents Texas, and especially Fort Worth, Texas, like the Fort Worth Stockyards! I love all the rustic charm that the Stockyards boast, from the wooden architecture all around the inside of Stockyard Station, to the gorgeous field of cacti growing next to the Stockyards.
There is so much Texas appeal in and around the Stockyards, that I always try to suggest it to clients that want something that has a mixture of urban and nature, yet charming and distinctly rustic.
“Established at the fork of the Trinity River in 1849 by Major Ripley Arnold, the Fort Worth Stockyards represented the last “civilized” outpost for cowboys driving cattle to market along the famous Chisholm Trail. By the mid-1870’s, Fort Worth had become a major center for the buying and shipping of livestock, thanks to the Texas & Pacific Railroad. It soon became known as “Cowtown”.”
“This authentic historic district has become a hub for those interested in the rich legacy of the old west, a must-see mecca for those wanting to experience a piece of the past and learn more about what it was like to drive cattle along the trail to a thriving destination where cowboy culture and commerce intersected. With its current collection of attractions, re-enactments, tours, live-animals, restaurants, rodeo, lodging and retail stores, the Stockyards are once again a thriving and vibrant destination, attracting visitors from around the country and across the globe. And with exciting plans for future development, the Stockyards, influenced by a rich history, has a bright and exciting future.”
Between all it’s charm and history, it is truly a unique backdrop for family photos in Fort Worth, Texas!
I always recommend that clients wear something that fits the rustic decor, but yet is still modern. Nice jeans with cowboy boots and dress shirts, casual knee length dresses with cowgirl boots, and anything that has a trendy western feel photograph great at the Stockyards!
It is seriously one of my favorite spots as a Fort Worth Senior and Family Photographer.
Below are some of my favorite images of client sessions taken at the Stockyards this year. As you can see, from the photos taken throughout the year, it photographs well in all seasons. The light over the cacti field is gorgeous, and the architecture makes for a interesting and dynamic background when even the foliage has dissipated during the heat of the summer and the cold of winter.
I loved how both families dressed rustic, yet chic and modern. Western boots and casual cotton dresses fit the surroundings perfectly in both sessions.
It truly is one of my favorite locations!
